This is what I used to say to others when someone asks me what was wrong after seeing the gloom on my face.
It was so easy for me to discount my feelings because we live in this world where we like talking about all the good things and pushing all the bad things under the rug.
It’s even uncomfortable for people to talk about the ‘bad’ stuff. Some people I know even try changing the topic to avoid hearing ‘bad’ or ‘depressing’ things because they don’t like the ‘energy’.
Everytime we ignore our pains, however, we are resisting the totality of who we are.
Labeling parts of us as ‘bad’, ‘dumb’ or ‘stupid’ also make us resist the other parts that are ‘good’, ‘great’ and ‘wonderful’.
When we allow ourselves to experience that ‘bad’ feeling we have,
When we allow ourselves to verbalize what’s bothering us,
When we allow ourselves to feel those ‘bad’ emotions…
We are releasing them.
We are letting them go.
We are simply accepting those emotions for what they are.
By doing so, we are also paving way for the “good” emotions to come.
Because if we are resisting being sad, we are also resisting the opposite of it – which is the “joy”.
What if, the joy we’ve experienced now is just the tip of the iceberg?
And that, perhaps…
By allowing ourselves to experience that sadness, that sorrow, or that pain,
We will be experiencing joy like no other.
STOP SHRUGGING OFF YOUR “DUMB” FEELINGS!
Blessing of miracles,
