I found myself laughing at the irony – there I was saying “I surrender” to the Universe’s whim and to what the world has to offer me
Yet when my mom called me to say she was in town and invited me to stay with her at a beautiful 5 star hotel, my first responses were
“Why didnt you tell me earlier?”
“You know I’m actually not sitting pretty here”
“I really have a lot to do”
At the end of the day, reviewing all my thoughts and what have transpired the day, I noticed how humans really do react out of habit.
Though I am happy to be staying at this great 5 star hotel – with all its amenities for free – My first response were a reaction that came from
“I should have been in control”
Of all the reasons why people get unsatisfied and unhappy – the need to be in control IS at the top.
We want to be in control
We need to be in control
We desire that control in our life
And when we don’t have that control? Or we felt as though control was taken out of our hands, we react with frustration, anger, agitation and irritation
But is there really a way to control everything?
Can we be in control all the time?
Sad to say – regardless of how much we try, we can NEVER be 100% in control of anything apart from our own reaction
Realizing how I almost said NO and slapped the big Universe in the face by rejecting what she just surprised me with? I opened up and received gracefully.
I packed a small suitcase and came to stay at the hotel with my mom. Plus I’m writing this blog from the rooftop pool in a very comfy deck chair and bathrobe!
How about you? Turned away any surprises recently?
Blessing of miracles,
